Leftovers Season Ends

The Leftovers fell to the River Pirates 2-1, ending their playoff run. This is the earliest exit for the Leftovers in post season play. Now all hair can be cut and all beards shaved as they look forward to a summer off and get ready to gear up for next year.

The Leftovers finished this playoff season 2-2.

Leftovers Lose First Playoff Game in Regulation

The Leftovers suffered their first playoff lost in regulation 3-2 to the Kodiaks. However, the Leftovers still play tonight for the C1 Pool 3 Championship. They will take on the River Pirates who the Leftovers beat Thursday in pool play 4-1.

Ryan Guritz and Dean Evenson scored for the Leftovers who will look to step it up for tonights game. A win will put them in the C1 Tier Championship tomorrow afternoon.

Leftovers Win; Make Pool Championship

The Leftovers picked up right where they left off and dominated the River Pirates in a 4-1 victory.

Ryan Guritz, the Leftovers' all-time leading scorer-scored two goals, including a shorthander. Gregg Myren and Nate Bonde also scored for the Leftovers who will face the Kodiaks Saturday morning in the final game of round robin play.

The win puts the Leftovers in the Pool 3 Championship against either the Bulldogs or the River Pirates, which also face off on Saturay morning.

Leftovers Defeat Bulldogs

The Leftovers earned their first win against the Bulldogs in convincing fashion led by Mike Waltman's two goals and Ryan Guritz adding two on the power play. Josh Nudd tallied the other Leftovers goal.

The Leftovers came out ready to play and held the Bulldogs' top line to minimal scoring chances.

The Leftovers play Thursday night against division rival River Pirates.

Playoffs Set

The Leftovers will begin defending their title Monday night agaisnt the Bulldogs in Richfield. Unlike last year's five games in less than 48 hours, they will have a little more rest with round robin games two and three on Thursday night and Saturday morning against the River Pirates and Kodiaks, respectively.

The Leftovers will advace through the playoffs depending on the results of the round robin portion of the tournament.

Two Leftovers Named As Starters in All-Star Game

Defenseman Anders Larson and goaltender Jason Bleistein have been named as starters in the 2008 AHA All-Star Game to be held April 13, 2008 at 1:20pm at Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine.

The game will feature a skills competition as well as a full game following. Admission for spectators is free.

Leftovers End Regular Season With a Tie

The Leftovers battled back and forth with the River Pirates and were able to gain one point in the standings with a 5-5 tie.

The game featured a few lead changes before the Leftovers tied it on a goal from Dave Waldock. Mike Waltman added two goals and Ryan Guritz and Josh Nudd each netted one.

The playoff picture is still uncertain as some teams still have two games remaining. While the Leftovers are in the playoffs, they will have to wait to see when and who they play.

Leftovers Make Playoffs

The Leftovers made the playoffs last night after the Bullheads dramatic come from behind victory over the Chiefs.

While their positioning for the playoffs is still in question, the final four teams from C1 East are set.

Leftovers Win 50th Game

The Leftovers knew there would be no question about the playoffs if they won their last three games. Facing off against the Mudflaps, the Leftovers played with winning on their mind, netting four 2nd period goals.

Jake Dotray and Mike Waltman each had two goals. Dave Waldock, Bill Jungheim and Ryan Guritz each had a goal.

The Leftovers are in a good position to make the playoffs. A win in their last game will secure a birth, depending on other results from this weekend.

The River Pirates are in town to end the regular season. The Leftovers have not beaten them yet this year.

Leftovers Win Season Series Against Bullheads

The Leftovers took firm hold on third place in their division by defeating the Bullheads 5-2.

The game was a back and forth battle in the first period before the Leftovers pulled away with a three goal third period. Mike Waltman and Ryan Guritz each had two goals and Dave Bies had a lone goal to lead the Leftovers to the win.

The Leftovers have four days off before taking on the Mudflaps in the final late night game of the season.

Leftovers Win 7-4

In a unusually chippy game, multiple lead changes occured before the Leftovers pulled away on four goals by Mike Waltman to secure the 7-4 victory over the Landsharks.

Dave Bies, Dave Waldock and Dean Evenson also scored for the Leftovers who stayed in the mix of the playoff race with the win.  The Leftovers will face off against the Bullheads on Saturday, March 8.

Leftovers Get Shutout

For the first time in almost two years, the Leftovers were held scoreless and fell to the Battle Cats 3-0. 

The last time the Leftovers were shut out was March 26, 2006 against the Phantoms.

The Leftovers were not without there chances, getting plenty of scoring opportunites on their 36 shots.  The Battle Cats goalie came up big several times to solidify the win.

The Leftovers playoff bid becomes even tough as every game is now a must win situation.  They are back in action on Thursday against the Landsharks.

Leftovers Defeat Royals

The Leftovers started slowly but were able to get enough pucks by the Royals keeper to beat them 6-2. 

Regardless of what the scoresheet indicates, the Royals goaltender had a solid 2nd period robbing goals from Mike Nelson and Ryan Guritz. 

Jason Dotray got his first two goals of the season, Guritz added two of his own and Josh Nudd and Mike Waltman tallied the rest.

The Leftovers have a week to recover for what is sure to be a tough game against the Battle Cats.

Leftovers Come Back to Tie Bombers

Down 3-1 early in the second period, the Leftovers turned it on and got goals from Mike Waltman and Ryan Guritz.

The Leftovers played a fairly uninspired first period, but Dave Bies actually took a shot on goal that found its way to the back of the net to keep the game close.

With a week of rest, the Leftovers return to the ice on Sunday to face off against the Royals for the second and final time this season.

Leftovers Defeat Chiefs

The Leftovers played a solid game and defeated the Chiefs 3-1 to even the season series at one game a piece.  The win created a log jam for the final three playoff spots with only five points separating the 2nd and 7th place teams.

Mike Waltman scored two goals, including the eventual game winner, and Dave Reiling tallied a goal to lead the Leftovers.

The Leftovers are back in action on Sunday, hoping to seek revenge on the Bombers.

Leftovers Tie Again

After only two days between games, the Leftovers came out with their guns blazing and peppered the Battle Cats goalie with 50 shots. 

The score saw each team taking a lead and the Leftovers tied it with 5:55 remaining in the game on a power play goal by Josh Nudd.  The goal forced overtime, which the Leftovers dominated but were unable to put anything past the Battle Cats sub goalie.

The Leftovers have a two week break before taking off against the Chiefs.  With eight games remaining in the regular season, every game is important to get to the playoffs.

Leftovers Tie Pirates

Determined to not spot the River Pirates another 5 goal lead, the Leftovers battled hard and went up 2-0 on goals by Jim Buccellato and Ryan Guritz.

Penalties again got the Leftovers in trouble as they surrendered to power play goals and the River Pirates tied the game. 

Due to the large amount of penalties that reflects the dislike for the other team, there was no time remaining to play any form of overtime period.

The Leftovers get a day of rest before facing off against the Battle Cats again.

Leftovers Fall

The number thirteen proved bad luck for the Leftovers as they fell 3-2 to the Mudflaps.

The Leftovers played a hard two periods and spent most of that in the offensive zone and led the Mudflaps heading into the third. 

The Mudflaps scored on a power play to tie the game and scored the game winner with 1:13 left to play.

The Leftovers hope to swallow the bitter pill as they seek revenge on the River Pirates.

Leftovers Lose; Back at .500

The Leftovers came out of the gate slowly and allowed three first period goals, which turned out to be the difference in a 4-1 loss to the Bullheads.

Jeff Wetterlind scored for the Leftovers in the third period to break the shutout.

The Leftovers look to get back on track against the division leading Mudflaps in a late night tilt at the Bloomington Ice Gardens.

Leftovers Win in Final Minute; Win Third Straight

Ryan Guritz showed up late to the game, but made his presence known by scoring a power play goal and the game winner with 35 seconds remaining in the game.

Playing with only 11 skaters, the Leftovers played hard to contain a Landshark team that is much better than their record indicates. The game was back and forth with neither team gaining more than a goal lead.

Mike Nelson and Mike Waltman also scored for the Leftovers who will start 2008 against the Bullheads.

Leftovers Win 2 Straight

Mike Waltman scored a hat trick, including an odd goal from the defensive zone, to lead the Leftovers over the Battle Cats.

After a scoreless first period, the Battle Cats got on the board first, but Waltman tied it up just over a minute later and the Leftovers never looked back.  Dave Bies and Ryan Guritz also added to the offensive production.

The Leftovers are on Christmas break until December 29 when they face the Landsharks in St. Louis Park.

Leftovers Win

Starting the game without their goalie, the Royals capitalized first, scoring within the first 19 seconds of the game.  The Leftovers were able to add an empty netter to tie it up and then dominated the rest of the game on their way to a 8-1 victory.

Ryan Guritz led the Leftovers with a hat trick and Mike Waltman scored two.  Dave Bies, Josh Nudd and Jim Buccellato also tallied goals.

The Leftovers will take on their arch nemisis the Battle Cats in a late Sunday night barn burner.

Leftovers Drop Third Straight

The Leftovers lost their third straight game and are winless in their last four as they fall to the Bombers 4-1.

With plenty of chances, opportunities and some pipes the Leftovers could only muster one power play goal from Jeff Wetterlind.

The Leftovers hope to get back in the win column as they face the Royals in New Hope.

Leftovers Continue Skid

The Leftovers continued their uninspired play and fell to the Chiefs 4-1.

After allowing two goals in the first period, Mike Nelson scored to pull the Leftovers within one.  The Leftovers were unable to capitalize on two consecutive 5 on 3s to even the score before the Chiefs sealed the game on a power play of their own.

The Leftovers look to get back on track against a tough Bombers team at the Coliseum on Sunday night.

Leftovers Get Re-heated

The River Pirates scored five goals in the first and never looked back as the Leftovers played their worst game in team history and fell 8-4.

Often in disarry the Leftovers allowed a shorthanded goal and yeilded two on the power play. The Leftovers had several chances to get back in the game but were never able to convert.

The Leftovers have two weeks off to regroup and improve their game before facing off against the Chiefs.


Leftovers Earn Tie

The Leftovers faced off against the Mudflaps and skated to a 3-3 tie. While lucky to get away with the point, the Leftovers stayed in the game on goals from Mike Nelson and Josh Nudd. Anders Larson added an extra spark by scoring on a penalty shot.

The game was the opposite of what they played a week before. The Leftovers looked slow and tired and gave the Mudflaps plenty of chances.

The Leftovers return to the ice next Saturday against the River Pirates.

Leftovers Start With Win

The Leftovers started the regular season with a 2-0 win over the Bullheads.  The evenly matched teams skated to a 0-0 tie in the first period until Mike Waltman tallied one in the beginning of the second and Dave Bies added an insurance goal for the win.  Jason Bleistein turned aside 29 shots for the shutout.

The Leftovers have six days off until they return to the ice to face another opponent, the Mudflaps from last year's playoffs.

Schedule Announced

The 2007-2008 Winter season schedule was released today. The Leftovers open up at home on October 28 agaisnt the Bullheads.  The Leftovers will look to continue their dominance of the Bullheads, following up on a 9-1 drubbing in last year's playoffs.

Divisions Announced

The league released the division assignments today and the Leftovers find themselves in C1 East.  The division is as follows:

Battle Cats
Bombers
Bullheads
Chiefs
Landsharks
Leftovers
Mudflaps
River Pirates
Royals

Along with the Leftovers, the Battle Cats, Bullheads, Mudflaps, and River Pirates are all teams making an appearance in last season's C2 playoffs.

The schedule will be announced shortly.  In the meantime, conspiracy theorists are working on why the Leftovers can't go a season without playing the Battle Cats.


September 14 - 16, 2007

Blaine, MN - The USA Hockey tournament got underway for the Leftovers Friday night as they faced off against the Waterboys. Brent Hanson scored the game winner with 36 seconds remaining for a 3-2 victory.  Mike Waltman and Dean Evenson scored the other Leftovers' goals.

The Leftovers returned Saturday afternoon to take on Blue Steel.  Ryan Guritz had two goals, Anders Larson scored one and Jason Bleistein got the shutout with a 3-0 victory.

Assured a spot in the final, the Leftovers took the ice against the Barons.  The Barons jumped out to a 2-0 lead but the Leftovers tied it with goals from Jim Buccallato and Bob Christiansen.   Anders Lason added a goal and Dave Waldock sent the game to a shootout with his snap shot from the point.  Mike Walltman and Jim Buccallato scored in the shootout to seal the win.

With the win, the Leftovers finished first in their pool.  The early Sunday morning game was close early, but the much younger Leftovers team scored 5 in the 3rd period for a 6-2 win. Ryan Guritz and Leftover wannabe Ariel Zetlin-Jones had two goals a piece and Anders Larson and Mike Waltman rounded out the scoring.

Vying for the championship, the Leftovers played Team Minnesota and fell 7-1.  Ariel Zetlin-Jones scored the lone Leftovers' goal.


September 11, 2007

The Leftovers will participate in the USA Hockey tournament at Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine this coming weekend.  The team is guaranteed at least three games. Depending on the results in round robin play, they will play on Sunday.

The tournament beings Friday nightwith the Leftovers facing off against the Waterboys at 10. 

The Leftovers will return for two games on Saturday against the Blue Steel and Barons at 1 and 7pm respectively.


August 23, 2007

The Leftovers will be defending their championship title in the new C1 Tier. Division alignments will be announced shortly

The 2007-2008 Winter season is slated to begin the first weekend in November. Plenty of season tickets are still available.

The team will participate in the Fall Classic in Blaine. The schedule will be posted when it becomes available.
