April 4, 2009

Getting into the Pool Championship scoring 4 goals and giving up three, the Leftovers surpassed both those numbers int he first period. Leading 3-1 against the Gators, the first period ended with the Leftovers leading 5-4.

The Gators tied it up in the second and each team scored two in the third to force overtime.

The five minute running time period featured a few chances, but no one was able to capitalize. Jim Buccelatto and Ryan Guritz scored in the shootout to win it for the Leftovers 8-7.

Unfortunately, despite going undefeated in the tournament, the Leftovers were unable to vie for the Tier Championship due to tiebreaker rules.

April 4, 2009

Tired from playing their second game on the Olympic rink, the Leftovers battled back after a late first period goal by the Bullheads as Scott McGuire scored in the second period as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

With the tie, the Leftovers will play tonight in the Pool A Championship game with a rematch against the GAtors. The puck drops at 6:30.

April 2, 2009

The Leftovers played another sprited game, tallying first in the second period by Scott McGuire's second goal of the playoffs. The Gators were able to tie the game in the third, but Dean Evenson picked up his own rebound and slammed home the game winner for a 2-1 victory.

The Leftovers face the Bullheads in the final game of pool play on Saturday morning. Results of that game, and the game between the Gators and Phantoms will determine who will vie for the Pool Championship.

March 31, 2009

In a very evenly matched game, the Leftovers scored first in the third period, but couldn't hold on as the Phantoms scored with 55 seconds remaining to tie 1-1.

Scott McGuire put the Leftovers up 1-0 with 5:22 remaining in the game. The Phantoms pulled their goalie and netted the tying goal in the final minute.

The Leftovers have a day off before facing off against the Gators at BIG at 10:15pm. Plenty of playoff tickets are still available.

March 21, 2009

In a game that had no implications on playoff standings, the Leftovers faced off against the Saints in the final game of the regular season. After yeilding a goal 7 seconds into the game and coming out of the first period tied at three, the Leftovers scored six in the remaining to periods to beat the Saints 9-3.

The Leftovers have ten days off until the playoffs begin with their first matchup against the Phantoms.

March 14, 2009

Always certain to be a spirited match up between two teams, the final game of the season series didn't disappoint and the Leftovers beat the Ice Hogs 3-2.

Scott McGuire opened the scoring with a tip on a shot from the point by Mark Cochrane. Dean Evenson added a tally in the second and Jim Buccelatto scored the game winner with 6:35 remaining in the game.

The Leftovers finish the regular season next Saturday against the Saints at St. Louis Park.

March 7, 2009

The Leftovers get their first win in over a month with a spirited effort in a 8-2 victory over the Taz Devils.

The Leftovers came to play, led by Scott McGuire's hat trick, eleven players figured in the scoring.

After a week of rest, the Leftovers will look to win the season series against the Ice Hogs.

Because of a Taz Devils loss, the Leftovers officially gained a playoff birth. Their final placing is still to be determined.

The Leftovers' slide continues as they fall to the Royals 2-1. Winless in their last four games, the Leftovers look to rebound against the Taz Devils in a Saturday matinee. Please help the Leftovers break their attendance record of 53 by coming to the game!

February 24, 2009

The Chiefs jumped out to a quick lead, scoring 19 seconds into the game and building a two goal lead in the first. The Leftovers never led in the game and managed a 4-4 tie with the Chiefs.

The Leftovers managed to answer every goal the Chiefs scored but were never able to get the go ahead goal. Despite two power play goals and four shots in the extra session, they were unable to capitalize.

The Leftovers hope to regroup and get inspired for the final three games of the regular season and secure a playoff spot.

February 18, 2009

The Landsharks jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Leftovers decided to make it a game in the third period on a power play goal by Mark Cochrane and a goal by Jim Buccelatto. The Leftovers stormed the net in the final minute but were not able to sleep one by and eventually fell to the Landsharks 3-2.

The Leftovers have six days to regroup before taking on the Chiefs on Tuesday at Wakota.

February 15, 2009

The Phantoms game back twice, once from two goals down and then from three in the third to gain a 6-6 tie with the Leftovers.

Despite having five players returning from a pond hockey tournament in northern Wisconsin, the Leftovers played well before yeilding a few goals.

The Leftovers have a day of rest before taking on the Landsharks at Augsburg on Wednesday.

February 11, 2009

Leftovers Dave Waldock, Anders Larson, Brent Hanson, Nate Bonde and Jason Bleistein, as well as wannabe Leftover Ariel Zetlin-Jones head to Eagle River, Wisconsin tomorrow to take part in the USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championships. Also making a cameo appearance will be the Stanley Cup and Neal Broten.

The Leftovers Pond Hockey Team are hoping to improve on their 3rd place finish a year ago.

February 2, 2009

Led by a four goal first period and a hat trick by Jake Dotray, the Leftovers handled the Saints 7-2.

Dotray opened the scoring at 11:19 of the first with his first of two power play goals. The Dotray-Dave Bies-Ryan Guritz line was responsible for five of the seven goals and managed to tally 14 points on the night.

The Leftovers have almost two weeks off before facing off against the Phantoms on February 15.

January 24, 2009

Seeking revenge for their only blemish on the season thus far, the Leftovers played strong and defeated the Ice Hogs handily 6-2.

After a close first period, the Leftovers pulled away,led by two goals from Jim Buccelatto. Jake Dotray, Alex Mavridoglou, Dave Bies and Jeff Wetterlind also tallied for the Leftovers.

The Leftovers return to action the day after the Super Bowl to face off against the Saints.

Leftovers Alex Mavridoglou and Jim Buccelatto will be playing in the US Pond Hockey Championships this weekend on Lake Nokomis.

The Leftovers remained undefeated at home and won their sixth straight with a 4-1 victory over the Taz Devils.

Dean Evenson scored two goals, including the gamewinner, and Ryan Guritz and Alex Mavridoglou each tallied a goal.

The Leftovers have two weeks off before they face the Ice Hogs and try to avenge their only blemish of the season.

January 4, 2009

The Leftovers broke their New Year's resolution and spotted the Royals two goals before scoring three. In a back and forth game, the Leftovers came back twice from a two goal deficit and beat the Royals 7-6 in OT.

Scott McGuire tallied a hat trick and Dave Waldock tied the game with a wrister from the point at 3:56 of the third and Jim Buccelatto scored 20 seconds into overtime to cap an incredible comeback. It was the second time this season that the Leftovers scored late to win in overtime.

Leftovers have their annual late night Sunday game next week at BIG at 10:30 against the Taz Devils.

December 27, 2008

Determined to not spot the Chiefs an early two goal lead, the Leftovers came out and pounded 17 shots on the Cheifs' goalie. They were finally able to break through early in the second on a goal by Dean Evenson. Brent Hanson scored his first of the season 40 seconds later.

The game was chippy, and Evenson took time out to score his second of the game in the third period between trips to the penalty box and the Leftovers defeated the Chiefs 3-0.

Jason Bleistein stopped 20 shots for his second shutout of the season.

December 21, 2008

The Leftovers came off their two week break a little rusty and spotted the Landsharks a two goal lead in the first. Inspired by captain Anders Larson's hussle, Dave Bies got the Leftovers on the board with just under two minutes to go in the first with his third of the season.

The Leftovers tied the game in the second on a shorthanded bid by Nate Bonde and Jim Buccalleto scored the game winner in the third as the Leftovers defeated the Landsharks 3-2 in a game where each team had over 35 shots each.

The Leftovers have six days of rest before playing the Chiefs the Saturday after Christmas.

December 7, 2008

Dave Waldock got the offense rolling with his first of the season at 12:55 of the 1st on the powerplay. The Phantoms tied it late in the period, and Jake "what time's the game at?" Dotray anwsered at 12:26 of the 2nd.

Tied again going into the 3rd Dave Bies finally put one in to give the Leftovers a 3-2 lead. Nate Bonde deflected a point shot into his former team's net to break a 3-3 tie and put the Leftovers up for good. Ryan Guritz and Dave Bies added insurance markers 38 seconds apart and Jason Bleistein made 23 saves in the Leftovers 6th win of the season in a 6-3 victory over the Phantoms.

The Leftovers have two weeks off before the next cycle of the schedule begins as they take on the Landsharks on Decmeber 21.

November 29, 2008

The Leftovers play a roller coaster of a game but manage to hang on and defeat the Saints 6-5.

Changed man Dean Evenson got his first (two) penalties of the season but added a goal. Scott McGuire added a pair of his own while Bill Jungheim, Gregg Myren and Nate Bonde each netted a goal.

The Leftovers head back to the Coliseum on Sunday to take on the Phantoms in the Battle of the Black and Orange.

Ice Hogs hand the Leftovers their first defeat of the season 4-2.

The Leftovers scored first, but played very uninspired hockey from their goaltender out and couldn't put much past the Ice Hogs' goalie who played solidly, stopping 43 of 45 shots.

The Leftovers look to get back into the win column when they take on the Saints at Breck the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Leftovers win 4th straight to start the season.

All-time leading scorer Ryan Guritz got the Leftovers going with his fourth of the season on a give-and-go with Dave Bies at 15:55 of the 1st. Scott McGuire got tired of dishing off the puck and netted one of his own by beating the Taz Devils goalie with a shot through the five hole from the left faceoff dot at 12:22 of the 2nd. Dean Evenson scored the eventual game winner (again) at 1:41 of the 2nd and added an insurance marker at 9:04 of the third.

Two more Leftovers popped their pentaly cherries (Mark Cochrane and Anders Larson) and took a two minute breather.

The Leftovers face off against the Ice Hogs next Sunday at the Coliseum at 9:30 in what is sure to be a heated game.

November 8, 2008

Keeping with tradition, the Leftovers spotted their opponents 2 goals in the first period. Ryan Gurtiz started the comeback with a power play goal at 16:34 of the 2nd and Jim Buccellato tied it at 2 on a nice feed from Scott McGuire at 8:54.

Down by a goal late in the 3rd, the goalie was pulled and the game was sent to OT when Dave Waldock's point shot was hammered in by Dean Evenson with 26 seconds remaining. Evenson then scored the game winner with a breakaway with 49 seconds remaining in OT to win the game 4-3.

Sub goalie Eli Montalvo made 33 saves stepping in for regular goalie Jason Bleistein who got lost in Wisconsin.

November 1, 2008

Jim Buccelatto scored two goals and Ryan Guritz scored another two as the Leftovers defeated the Chiefs, 7-2.

Finding themselves trailing early in the second period, the Leftovers turned it on and tallied three goals in the second and third periods.

The Leftovers will battle for first place when they take on the re-tooled Royals Saturday night in New Hope.

October 25, 2008

Jim Buccaletto played like it was a scrimmage and scored the only goal for the Leftovers in a 1-0 victory.The Leftovers controlled the game and their defense held the Landsharks to only nine shots, earning Jason Bleistein his first shutout of the season.

The Leftovers are back on the ice next Saturday night against the Chiefs.

The complete schedule has been released today and the Leftovers open the 2008-2009 winter season this Saturday in a 4:20 matinee against the Landsharks at West Side Arena.

The C1 divisions were drawn today and the Leftovers again find themselves in C1 East. Finally away from the Battle Cats, the Leftovers will rekindle some old rivalries, as well as form a few new ones. C1 East consists of:

Saints
Taz Devils

The season is slated to being on October 25 and the schedule should be released in the next week. Keep checking back for dates, times and locations.

September 14, 2008

The Leftovers finish the AHA Fall Invitation Tournament with a record of 1-2. The Leftovers lost to the Phantoms 3-1 on Friday evening. On Saturday morning, they fell to the FOG 3-1, but rebounded for a win against the Ice Hogs 2-1.

The team will have over a month to prepare for the upcoming regular season, slated to begin the last weekend in October.

The Leftovers open the AHA Fall Inviatational Tournament tonight against the Phantoms at 7:20 on Rink 2. On Saturday, the Leftovers take on FOG (Fat Old Guys) in a 9:25 morning tilt and the Ice Hogs at 1:50 that afternoon.

Championship games will be played on Sunday.

After a lengthy summer breath, the Leftovers are preparing to begin the 2008-2009 AHA Winter Season in C1.

They will begin by participating in the AHA Fall Invitational Tournament at Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine on September 12-14.

Tickets for the tournament are still available and season tickets still remain. Act now as these are bound to go quickly!
